HD2 is a live service 3rd person shooter. The first game can be ignored, most people never heard of it or played it. The nice thing about HD2, you can earn super credits (available for rl money in their store) by playing the game and picking them up in-round. The battle passes never go away, so you can always but them later and never miss out. I've never seen either in another game.
You can co-op play with up to 4 players, but lots of players play solo. You can also throw a beacon to request people to join your mission and find people to play with pretty quickly. That said, I still want to try Elden Ring and would play that first if I had the choice
