First steps Right after reaching the Refuge for the first time, Doryani will prompt you to interact with the Map Device. Clicking on it will unlock the "Endgame" teleport tab for you. This is an infinite cluster of interconnected maps. Maps are depicted as small circular nodes that have a different colour depending on their "state": - Blue: This map is accessible. - White: This map needs to be pathed towards to be accessed. - Red: This map is failed. Dying too many times on one map can make a map permanently inaccessible. This is limited to very few types of maps. Most maps can be repeated indefinitely until completed. - Green: This map is completed. Completed maps can not be repeated. Completing a map makes all maps connected by dotted lines accessible.

Your first Map(s) Hovering over a map will show you the Biome as well as the type of map. The biome can mostly be ignored for now and will only become relevant once we start using the Atlas Passive Tree. The type of a map will define the tileset a map uses and what boss you will fight at the end. Some tilesets are very similar to campaign maps, like Digsite and The Excavation in Act4. Once you enter a map you will spawn at a (blue) checkpoint and will have to fight your way through groups of monsters until you eventually reach an orange checkpoint. Orange checkpoints are always placed at the entrance of the map boss arena. Maps will be completed once all Map Objectives are done. These can be found on the right-hand side of your screen under your minimap. After completing a map you can choose to portal back to the Refuge/your Hideout or to stay in the map and complete any Map Content you may have missed. Map Content can be seen underneath the Map Objectives, you can hover over every symbol for some additional information. Once one type of map content has been completed, its symbol will be checked off. Maps will contain random Map content like Abysses, Breaches, Expeditions, etc. These will only show up in the Map Content section once you actually find the respective content. Beating the map boss and finding all checkpoints will make all Map content appear in the Map content section as well as on your minimap. This can be helpful if you struggle finding the last bit of content that you want/need to do. # 3. The Precursor Tower and Tablets

After you have made your way through the first few maps you will reach the first Precursor Tower. This is one of many special maps on the atlas.

You will find these Precursor Tower all over the atlas and completing them will reveal a large radius of maps around them. This can be very helpful when deciding what direction to path in.

Precursor Towers function very similarly to normal maps. Your objective is to kill the boss. However, this won’t instantly finish the map. Instead you have to head past the boss arena and interact with the Precursor Tower at the end. Doing so will drop an Irradiated Tablet and complete the map.

The first precursor tower you complete will also reveal the Precursor Fortress. A huge structure north-west of where you started on the atlas. This will be where we you will want to head decently early on in your mapping journey.

The Irradiated Tablet you got is one of many types of tablets. Tablets are used to further enhance or modify content in the map. To use a tablet you have to place it into one of the bottom 3 slots under the Waystone slots when opening a map. These slots will be locked unless your Waystone meets certain types of requirements.

The first slot requires your Waystone to be magic, the second slot requires your Waystone to be rare, and the third slot requires your waystone to have 6 modifiers on it.

Tablets always have 10 uses with the exception of unique tablets. Non-unique tablets may also be upgraded to magic and later to rare to add modifiers based on the type of tablet used, generally buffing their respective content.
