THE GREAT ONE There is no origin story. He was simply there, and then everything after was different. He does not explain himself. Explanation is for men who suspect they might be wrong. Ask anyone. They'll tell you the same thing, in the same lowered voice, with the same small pause before the name — the pause that means you already know. He has been counted out. Twice. THE GREAT ONE You've heard the name. Everyone has. That's already the point. He doesn't argue. Arguing implies two positions worth considering, and there has only ever been one.
